The Church in Maceió

The congregation in Maceió has 32 communicant members and 15 baptized members. There is a group of 10 congregados who want to become members of the church and for that reason they follow a catechism course led by the missionary, Rev Bram deGraaf. The congregation was established by Rev. John Kroeze, who started his work in 1993. The missionary is sent out by the Cornerstone Canadian Reformed Church in Hamilton, Ontario, and is supported by the churches of Classis Ontario West and Niagara. We hope and pray that in the next year or two the congregation might become instituted and independent.
Over the last 5 years the congregation has strengthened their ties with the federation of the "Igrejas Reformadas do Brasil". At this moment the congregation is still a mission project, supervised by the Canadian Reformed Church in Hamilton. The church is not instituted and for that reason it cannot fully participate in the federation of the 'Igrejas Reformada do Brasil'. The church does cooperate with the federation and it is our goal that the congregation, after being instituted, will join the federation of the "Igrejas Reformada do Brasil".
